Quarry Location and Nomenclature

Norwegian Labradorite is a striking granite quarried in the Larvik region of Norway.

Aesthetic Qualities

Renowned for its black base interspersed with shimmering blue flecks, this stone exhibits a dramatic iridescent effect. This magmatic rock, classified as ‘Larvikite-Syenite,’ was named after its region of origin and contains labradorite, which gives it its unique, color-changing properties.

Architectural and Artistic Use

Norwegian Labradorite is suitable for both interior and exterior applications, making it a popular choice for countertops, flooring, wall cladding, and decorative details. Additionally, Labradorite slabs and blocks are also used for sculptures and other artworks.

In Istanbul, this stone was used exclusively for the columns of the late 19th century German Fountain in Sultanahmet.
