The Second Edition of Mimarlar İçin Doğal Taş Rehberi and the English Edition, Natural Stone Guide for Architects, Have Been Published

Originally published in 2023 by STONELINE Publications, Türkiye’s first publishing house dedicated to natural stone, Mimarlar İçin Doğal Taş Rehberi has been released in its second edition. At the same time, its English edition, Natural Stone Guide for Architects, has been introduced to the international literature. Covering the essential knowledge and approaches required for selecting and applying natural stone in architecture, the book serves as a valuable reference for architects, interior architects, engineers, natural stone professionals, academics, and students.

Natural Stone Guide for Architects brings together the fundamental knowledge needed throughout the entire process—from selecting natural stone to its application—making it a comprehensive resource for architects, interior architects, engineers, academics, students, and professionals in the natural stone industry.

From antiquity to the present day, natural stone has remained one of the principal structural, flooring, and cladding materials in architecture. Its aesthetic diversity, durability, and long service life have secured its place among architecture’s most enduring materials. Natural Stone Guide for Architects presents a broad perspective on natural stone, tracing its historical development through to contemporary applications and making this body of knowledge accessible to an international readership.

The book explores a wide range of subjects, including the formation, production, and processing of natural stone; its role throughout architectural history; criteria for material selection; and its applications in both interior and exterior spaces. It also examines design methods and construction principles, deterioration processes, cleaning and conservation techniques, sustainability criteria, and up-to-date information on natural stone resources around the world.

The publication was directed by architect Gülçin İpek, edited by Dr. O. Serkan Angı, and designed by Cem Günübek. The English translation was prepared by Kathryn Kranzler İzgi.

Illustrated with nearly 1,000 photographs and technical drawings, Natural Stone Guide for Architects combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience in the architectural use of natural stone. Future editions are intended to be continuously updated and expanded with new topics in response to emerging needs and recommendations, further strengthening the book as a key reference in the field of natural stone.
